chunking is an impoertant cognitive strategy. it divides the whole content into small chunks i.e.pieces or small parts. it is helpful to add relevance to the content.

It is better to learn things in chunks of between five and nine pieces - better to have five. So something more complex is better broken down into sizes that are about five long.
Take the word Mississippi. It is better to break the word up:
Mis/sis/sippi
The above is one way of doing this. Write Mis in your mind and put it up and to your left. Put up the first chunk and check whether it is there or not. Then add the next chunk. Finally check the whole word is still there, up and to your left.

when ever we learn we use the chunking strategy. Even in school days while learning we were using chunking strategy though we were not knowing it by the name.

Yes Pooja... I am completely agree with the statements made by you.

According to me chunking refers to a strategy for making more efficient use of short-term memory by recoding information. The phenomenon of chunking as a memory mechanism can be observed in the way we group numbers and information in our day-to-day life.

Hello Pooja!
Chunking strategy is one of the important cognitive strategy. it is an effective strategy while classifying the content. chunking any content is very important not only for the instructor but also for the learner.
Chunking will help the learner to organize the content well and then it will be easier to grasp the content.
From instructional point of view it is one of the important technique of content analysis.

Yes, chunking helps a lot in remembering the concepts of our curriculum studies as well as in remembering many things of our daily lives. As chunking is about dividing the content into small parts but the most important fact to keep in mind is however we chunk the content , the relevant and important terms should be highlighted so that it becomes easy to memorize and recall without any difficulty.

Yes, organised knowledge that is provided in chunks is effectively accepted and retained by the mind. Chunking also aids successful recall. Hence, knowledge or content has to be properly analysed before being distributed in chunks. Chunks should be 'meaningful' and not just information portions.
